It was such a privilege to meet him, I only wish I’d asked for dressage tips for Riley 😂

I had the most amazing day and watched so many incredible riders and some that I have been lucky enough to do my ‘chatting with’.

Today it’s back down to earth with a bump but I feel very inspired.

I had a really good lesson with Riley today.

I must admit I wanted to cancel telling myself that I just wanted to hack instead but deep down I knew it was because I was feeling apprehensive.

I haven’t cantered much in the last couple of weeks and after it feeling really fast on Tuesday I wasn’t looking forward to it.

I am so glad I didn’t cancel as it was fine. My issue is to keep Riley going.

Afterwards we went for the hack.

Joshua Jones UK is a family business launched in 2003 by husband and wife team, Steve and Debbie, since then they’ve been joined by their son and daughter in law. It really is a family affair.

I also asked them for tips on how to care for boots.

After being away for a couple of days it was so go

After being away for a couple of days it was so good to be back in the saddle yesterday morning.

I had a lesson and as I hadn’t ridden for almost a week it took me a while to settle in and remember how to ride.

When it came to cantering I said to Emma that Riley seemed fast, to which she pointed out that’s how it should be.

He also managed to throw me forward when he bucked after his objection to my tap with the crop.

Afterwards we went for a lovely hack and I thought to myself this is where I should be. Normally I manage to stay upright but I think he must have objected a bit more than usual.

I met new faces, caught up with familiar ones, and did so much chatting and laughing.

Based in Knutsford, at the Pinfold Stables which is run by British Grand Prix dressage rider and trainer Sarah Higgins @sarahhigginsdressage and her partner Chinese international event rider Alex Hua Tian @alexhuatian

Sarah is working hard towards her goals of competing at the Asian Games in China 2022 and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In addition to riding, Sarah is also a talented artist and finds time to produce beautiful drawings and paintings as well as creating short films and loves photography.

Usually on a Saturday I would just hack. However

Usually on a Saturday I would just hack.

However I wasn’t able to have my lesson yesterday and knew I wouldn’t have another one until Tuesday so I decided to do a short schooling session.

I did a small amount of cantering. He doesn’t stay in canter without reminders and if he gets a tap with the schooling whip he often objects with a buck, and today was no different.

What I do find strange is that if I was watching someone riding a bucking horse I wouldn’t particularly want to ride it but with Riley it’s completely different and it doesn’t phase me. It’s just part of the journey and highlights my confidence in him.

Afterwards we went for a lovely hack.

Just as I was preparing to leave the yard Emma asked if I had seen the two new foals. I went to say hello and it wasn’t easy to tear myself away. They are absolutely adorable.
