I grabbed the camera quickly for a photo as I doubt it will be this colour in the morning as he loves to roll.

He’s still off work at the moment although we can do light hacking so weather permitting that’s the plan for tomorrow.

Riley is off schooling at the moment.

His saddle doesn’t seem to be fitting him as it should. No surprise given how much his shape has changed since I got him.

I’m currently trying to arrange appointments with a saddle fitter and the physio.

Yes I did go to the stables today wearing my woollen hat!

It didn’t stop raining here today so Emma rode him in the indoor school.

Other than trips to the stables I didn’t really venture out today and had an easy day at home.

Riley and I hacked around the farm ride today.

Something made him jump within the first few minutes of our hack so he wasn’t very relaxed at first.

Although did settle in to it but jumped out of his skin towards the end.

I really do love hacking with him, it’s such a lovely way to spend time with him.

Riley had a back massage from Emma today. He had some tightness in his back so she wanted to help that.

So there was no riding today.

He’s now out in the field overnight. He is loving it and from the shavings I’m seeing in his tail everyday I know he’s lying down during the day in his stable.

Luckily there were more laughs that frustrations as he knows how to keep me entertained.

Horse Riding Lesson Tuesday

Riley and I went in the 60 metre outdoor school for our lesson today.

As it has training mirrors I get a constant reminder when riding that my arms are straighter than they should be.

It was the first time he had been ridden since his new shoes and there wasn’t any difference in walk and trot but his canter was definitely faster today and he was having to work it out.

We had a really good lesson and my confidence cantering is building all the time. We did some lovely leg yields.

We finished off with a little hack. Riley is always fine until there is something that wasn’t there the last time we hacked. Today it was a blue mini parked outside one of the cottages on the estate and a bit of coaxing was needed.

Riley’s first pair of shoes

Until today Riley has always been barefoot.

When I bought him my farrier said that at some point he may need shoes and we are now at that point.

I will admit I was worried how he would be with the whole process so the decision was made to cold shoe.

Riley now has two front shoes.
