Riley was turned out with another horse today and

Riley was turned out with another horse today and moved to a new field.

It was nice for him to have a friend although he does tend to keep himself to himself.

I can see the new field from his stable so mucking out took longer than usual as I kept stopping to watch him.

Emma long reined him this afternoon and he with her schooling he is improving all the time. He is still reluctant to canter on one rein but there’s always tomorrow.

Riley’s had a duvet day today, well almost.

The horses on our yard were kept in as we have so much rain and the fields were water logged.

I say almost as Emma my instructor rode him today. She is schooling him for the next few weeks to teach him to canter.

He finds one rein particularly difficult and he made his objections known. There were quite a number of bucks!

Luckily Emma manages to sit them with ease and forgives him.

He was such a superstar given that we haven’t hacked out in over a month and it was somewhere he hadn’t hacked before.

It was a joy to be able to spend the time together.

I plan to hack out tomorrow too although Riley doesn’t know about that bit yet.

It was wonderful to turn Riley out this morning.

It was wonderful to turn Riley out this morning.

As he hadn’t been out of his stable for a month he was so excited to be out and practically dragged me to the field. It was rather tricky underfoot so keeping up with him wasn’t easy.

I stood for a while and watched him trot around the field and have a roll.

I am so pleased with how well he is settling into his new yard.
