Riley’s had a duvet day today, well almost. The

Riley’s had a duvet day today, well almost.

The horses on our yard were kept in as we have so much rain and the fields were water logged.

I say almost as Emma my instructor rode him today. She is schooling him for the next few weeks to teach him to canter.

He finds one rein particularly difficult and he made his objections known. There were quite a number of bucks!

Luckily Emma manages to sit them with ease and forgives him.

Riley and I went for a hack this afternoon.

He was such a superstar given that we haven’t hacked out in over a month and it was somewhere he hadn’t hacked before.

It was a joy to be able to spend the time together.

I plan to hack out tomorrow too although Riley doesn’t know about that bit yet.

It was wonderful to turn Riley out this morning.

It was wonderful to turn Riley out this morning.

As he hadn’t been out of his stable for a month he was so excited to be out and practically dragged me to the field. It was rather tricky underfoot so keeping up with him wasn’t easy.

I stood for a while and watched him trot around the field and have a roll.

I am so pleased with how well he is settling into his new yard.

Riley is looking so much brighter. After spending

Riley is looking so much brighter.

After spending hours standing in the stable with him last weekend seeing him looking sorry for himself and not eating it was a joy to see him looking happier.

He was back to what he likes doing best, munching and when I took a bucket in to empty his automatic water feeder he was trying to look inside to see if it contained anything interesting.

He is going to be stable bound for a while longer and I am hoping to get test results tomorrow or Tuesday.

I think we will both be grateful when he can once again be in the field.

This photo is from when he got clipped as he hasn’t ventured out of his stable in 10 days.
